| The backbone of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) fleet, the General Motors (GM) T6H-5307N "New Look" model diesel high floor buses were purchased by the TTC from 1959 up until 1983. The present fleet currently ranges from the years 1981 to 1983. While many have retired from revenue service, there are some continuing to serve Toronto daily after going through the rebuild programs offered at Duncan shops at Hillcrest Repair Facility. The rebuilt buses have been renumbered into the 2000 series.
The 2000-2110 series were the first to undergo rebuild. Many from the 2000-2110 series were numbered in the 8181-8204, 8270-8369 series. Some but not all were also numbered in the 8520-8561 series and 8571. Only one (2017) remain in this series. This bus is allocated at Malvern Garage. The buses are equipped with the Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine and Allison V730 transmission. The 2150-2155 series were also part of the first rebuild. The six buses were formerly in the 8010-8117 and 8140-8180 series. Unlike their counterparts, they have electric starters and bench seats. The last of these buses retired in April 2007. The buses were allocated to Malvern, Arrow, Birchmount and Wilson Garages during their lifespan and were equipped with the Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine with Allison V730 transmission. (originally Allison VH9 Transmission). The 2600-2619 series were purchased second hand by the TTC from the STCUM in Montréal. 62 buses were purchased in the late 1990s but only 20 of them managed to get rebuilt in the first rebuild. The others were subsequently scrapped. The buses have bench seats, standee windows and Mckay Gates installed at the rear doors. The last of these buses retired in November 2006 and were all allocated to Arrow Garage during their lifespan. The buses were equipped with Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine and Allison V730 transmission.
