TTC New Flyer D40 - 6420-6434, 6440-6521 (1988, 1989)

The Toronto Transit Commission's (TTC) fleet of New Flyer D40 model diesel high floor buses are numbered 6300-6359 for the 1987 models, 6420-6434 for the 1988 models, 6440-6521 for the 1989 models and 6560-6638 for the 1990 models.

The 1987-1989 models are equipped with Detroit Diesel 6V71N engine and Allison V731 Transmission. The 1990 models were equipped with the Cummins L10B engine and Allison V730 transmission.

Due to corrosion in the bulkhead and sturctural failures, the 1987 and 1990 D40 buses were retired prematurely.
